1 Cor 12:4-6 NIV
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
“patch-work” - a collection of miscellaneous or incongruous parts; made up of various parts ; a jumble , a theory or argument made up of miscellaneous or incongruous ideas, confusion, jumble, medley, mishmash or hotchpotch
Do we not find that in life’s lessons we look back at a medley of ideas,
memories and beliefs ?
During our lifetime we collect various pieces to the puzzle and often find ourselves in a place where we are not sure what to do with these intricate parts. How often do we ask ourselves , “I am not sure why this is happening” or “I wish I had the answer to the problem.”
Just like putting a medley of colours, contours, and textures together, we find strength, knowledge and a sudden burst of understanding. Slowly but surely we start our patch-work memorabilia. The many ideas, opinions and life experiences that allow us to put the pieces together to give us our own frame of reference. Even through our hardships, do not be afraid to carve these experiences into your own patch-work art. These are the building blocks to creating a strong and enigmatic quilt of life.
These include an awareness of the Lessons that life bring about:
- Our Attitude - perceptions perhaps?
- Ourselves - my own identity
- Our relationships with others - what is our filter?
- Our own Legacy - what would your patchwork piece look like?
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
